Wafula Nabutola is a seasoned management scientist, leadership trainer, and passionate mentor with over 30 years of diverse experience. While his professional life has taken him through high-level work in government, his deepest calling lies in mentoring and guiding the next generation of African leaders.
As a core mentor at eMentoring Africa’s Mentors Parlour—an initiative born during the COVID-19 lockdown to support youth facing job loss, disillusionment, and uncertainty—Wafula has become a trusted voice of hope and perspective. He brings calm authority, lived wisdom, and deep empathy into conversations that help young people navigate emotional distress, handle criticism, manage conflict, and build emotional intelligence in the face of adversity.
He is a firm believer in agriculture as a tool for economic empowerment and well-being. As such, he mentors youth on embracing land and food systems as part of their personal and national transformation. He has a passion for personal discipline, physical fitness, and self-awareness, adding a practical and holistic dimension to his coaching style.
Wafula uses his excellent story telling skills to challenge youth to know themselves, honor their roots, and rise with intention, not just for personal gain, but for the future of Kenya and Africa. Academically, he pursued management science and leadership studies from the University of Reading (UK), Carleton University (Canada), and professional development in governance, policy, and strategy from leading institutions in Kenya, China, and South Africa.
